The raiseRED Executive Board is comprised of two tiers, Directors and Coordinators.

Director Job Descriptions

Directors are responsible for their own role-specific duties, contributing to the overall leadership, strategy, and success of raiseRED. They foster collaboration, maintain professionalism and confidentiality, and help shape the organization’s strategic direction. As members of the Director team, they engage in discussions that impact raiseRED beyond their individual roles. A large part of their responsibilities also includes overseeing a group of Coordinators, providing guidance and support to ensure they successfully lead their initiatives and, when applicable, manage their staff teams. Additionally, Directors must attend all leadership meetings and retreats, including those with advisors, the full Executive Board, the full leadership team, and their assigned Coordinators. Serving as representatives of raiseRED, Directors work alongside fellow board members to advance the organization’s initiatives and uphold its mission.

You must have been a member of raiseRED leadership to apply for a Director role (Staff or Executive Board). In order to be the Executive Director, you must have been on the Executive Board before.

Executive

Director

The Executive Director oversees raiseRED’s long-term goals, strategic initiatives, and overall direction. They support the development of the Executive Board, providing guidance to ensure effective leadership. This role leads all Executive Board and Director meetings, oversees DEI initiatives, and manages administrative tasks, including maintaining RSO status and organizing applications and interviews for new staff and board members. Additionally, the Executive Director fosters leadership development by planning retreats and meetings throughout the year. As the chief liaison to university leadership and campus partners, they advocate for raiseRED and strengthen its presence. Ultimately, they ensure the organization’s sustainability and impact. The Executive Director will oversee the Director team, including the Finance Director, Communications Director, External Director, and two Programming Directors.

Programming Directors

The Programming Directors are responsible for planning, organizing, and orchestrating the entire 18-hour dance marathon and spirit week. Responsibilities include but are not limited to creating schedules, coordinating with vendors and campus partners, ensuring participant engagement, maintaining theme execution, managing floor plans and duty rosters, and leading leadership team walkthroughs. During the marathon, they oversee the event, serve as primary emcees, and manage real-time execution. They also supervise the internal projects, morale, and youth philanthropy coordinators, ensuring all tasks are completed efficiently and effectively. There are two programming directors, and they will oversee the Morale Coordinator, Youth Philanthropy Coordinator, and Internal Projects Coordinator. 

External

Director

The External Director will manage all relationships with external entities and sustain raiseRED records. They will maintain relationships with our beneficiaries: Norton Children’s Cancer Institute and the UofL School of Medicine’s Division of Pediatric Hematology and Oncology. They will act as a liaison between raiseRED and community organizations with their coordinators such as Gilda’s Club, The Sickle Cell Association of Kentuckiana, Gift of Life, etc. Finally, the External Director will be a resource for all Executive Board Directors and Coordinators who work with external entities. They will also work with the Executive Director to support raiseRED’s DEI initiatives. During the marathon, they will be in charge of managing and ensuring the well-being of our beneficiaries and community members. The External Director will oversee the Service Coordinator, University Outreach Coordinator, and the Family Relations Coordinator.

Communications

Director

The Communications Director will write, manage, and develop marketing materials to create a cohesive brand for raiseRED, including a branding guide. They will be responsible for strategizing and creating marketing tactics to enhance raiseRED’s image on campus and in the community, through events, news appearances, and our social media. They will serve as a liaison between the board and the UofL Office of Communications & Marketing as well as the marketing departments of our beneficiaries. They will work with other University officials and community members to spread awareness about raiseRED and our mission. The Communications Director will oversee the Student Involvement Coordinator, Technology Coordinator, Design Coordinator, and Dancer Relations Coordinator. 

Finance

Director

This individual serves as the chief financial arm of the organization and serves as a Director. This Director is the liaison between the raiseRED Executive Board and UofL’s Office of Philanthropy and Alumni Engagement. This Director is responsible for the creation and maintenance of the operations budget, raiseRED inventory, and the merchandise store, and all things purchasing. This person is responsible for the applying of and managing the spending of CPC funds. This position will work closely with the Analytics Coordinator to project revenue for the organization and the Fundraising Coordinator to create fundraising plans, as well as the Programming Directors to account for supplies and ordering for the dance marathon. During the dance marathon, this person will count money and calculate the grand total for our fundraising reveal. The Finance Director will oversee the Sponsorship Coordinator, Analytics Coordinator, and Fundraising Coordinator. 

Coordinators are responsible for collaborating with other board members, maintaining professionalism and confidentiality, supporting various initiatives outside of their specific roles, and helping shape the organization’s overall direction. Coordinators must attend all leadership meetings and retreats, including those with the full Executive Board, the full leadership team, and their assigned Directors. Coordinators are also responsible for raising $1,100 by an assigned date in February. Serving as representatives of raiseRED, Coordinators work alongside fellow board members to advance the organization’s initiatives and uphold its mission.

Coordinator Job Descriptions

Analytics Coordinator

The Analytics Coordinator will coordinate the fundraising platform and monitor all dancer and leadership fundraising as well as dancer registration numbers for the raiseRED year, with special attention to fundraising pushes. They will be responsible for working with Dancer Relations to help troubleshoot issues that may arise in regards to the fundraising platform. The Analytics Coordinator will be responsible for forecasting, troubleshooting, and implementing data analysis to push the organization forward in areas such as social media presence, event coordination, family events, and more. The Analytics Coordinator will be in charge of using prior year data to assist all positions on the board with their initiatives. The Analytics Coordinator will be responsible for updating offline donations and tracking fundraising incentives  including, but not limited to, comma club matches, canning donations, etc. Overall, the Analytics Coordinator’s responsibilities will center on raiseRED receiving a fundraising return on investment in every aspect of our organization. This person will also be tasked with tracking and updating dancer and team participation throughout the year, including the Color Team and Organization Spreadsheets. The Analytics Coordinator will work under the Finance Director.

Family Relations Coordinator

The Family Relations Coordinator is the liaison between raiseRED and the patient families we serve. This role includes pairing Cardinal Crew buddies with a mentor, planning and implementing all programming for raiseRED Families, regularly checking in with families, and making sure that the needs of families are taken care of. Past programming has included: virtual bedtime stories, Rocket Launch & Fall Festival, Kid Prom, and more.  This position is also responsible for the support and management of our raiseRED families during the main event programming. The Family Relations Coordinator is also responsible for regularly working with our clinic’s social worker and communicating with new families who are interested in signing up for the program. As the liaison, this role should regularly keep the families up-to-date with the happenings and events within raiseRED. The Family Relations Coordinator works closely with the External Director and the Service Coordinator. This role must be able to communicate with the board and families efficiently. The Family Relations Coordinator will work under the External Director.

Dancer Relations Coordinator 

The Dancer Relations Coordinator is responsible for managing the overall recruitment, communication and retention strategies for raiseRED Dance Marathon participants. They will focus on the needs of dancers throughout the year and coordinate recruitment tactics in conjunction with the Student Involvement Coordinator and Communications Director. The Dancer Relations Coordinator will coordinate registration for the 2026 raiseRED Dance Marathon, and manage newsletters, the Dancer Survival Guide, and other communications necessary to prepare dancers for the main event. They will be responsible for creating, maintaining, and troubleshooting all dancer fundraising pages. The Dancer Relations Coordinator will be tasked with assigning dancers to color groups, informing Morale Staff about their dancer rosters, and planning the check-in/check-out process for raiseRED. The Dancer Relations Coordinator will work under the Communications Director

Design Coordinator

The Design Coordinator will oversee the creation and distribution of all graphics, marketing material, and merchandise used throughout the year. They will work to maintain the Facebook, Twitter, TikTok, LinkedIn, and Instagram accounts. This coordinator will also be responsible for coordinating the design for packets and other marketing materials, including but not limited to, Fundraising Packets, Sponsorship Packets, Dancer Survival Guides, promotional videos, and flyers. The Coordinator will also oversee the creation of the materials to be on-screen during the dance marathon as well as designing merchandise sold at the marathon. The Design Coordinator will also be responsible for coordinating videography and photography at all pre-events and the dance marathon. Fundraising Coordinator

This coordinator is responsible for overseeing creative strategic fundraising initiatives throughout the year. This coordinator will work closely with every position on the board to develop fundraising goals and metrics for all programming and events. They will create a comprehensive calendar of fundraising pushes throughout the year. This person will create and update fundraising resources, lead fundraising information sessions, and make sure fundraising materials are readily accessible to leadership and dancers. Additionally, this person will work in our online fundraising platform to update goals and other relevant fundraising information. They will also serve as a year-round resource for all leadership members and dancers to assist them with meeting their fundraising goals. The Fundraising Coordinator will work under the Finance Director.

Internal Projects Coordinator 

The Internal Projects Coordinator is responsible for planning and executing pre-events the organization hosts or is a part of and designed for students, dancers, and/or leadership. Events before the marathon should appeal to the university’s student body, as opposed to the Louisville community. Events requiring implementation include, but are not limited to, Welcome Week, various awareness months or weeks, Registration Week, Week of Hope, Commonwealth Cup, and Dancer Appreciation Day. The coordinator should strive to plan engaging, diverse, accessible, and cause-connected opportunities. This position requires frequent and consistent communication with other Executive Board members and development of expectations for all leadership members for events.The person must also assist in creating promotional material, ordering and securing supplies or sponsored items, and communicating with university  employees or student leaders as needed. This person will also be in charge of color wars planning, points, and execution at the marathon in collaboration with the Youth Philanthropy Coordinator. The Internal Projects Coordinator will work under the Programming Directors.

Morale Coordinator (1) 

The Morale Coordinator (MC) is responsible for the management and onboarding of Morale Staff. The MC is responsible for relaying all important information and expectations to Morale Staff. The MC is also in charge of coordinating and facilitating all meetings and communication. Meetings will primarily consist of updates, training, and team-building activities. During the year, the MC will oversee Morale Staff fundraising and contact with dancers. The MC will be responsible for training Morale Staff in areas such as, but not limited to, fundraising, dancer outreach, leadership, and personal development. The MC will create the line dance for the dance marathon and will facilitate the teaching of the line dance to dancers (at the marathon) and leadership (before the marathon). Morale Staff, along with the Morale Coordinator, will serve as a task force of raiseRED: promoting, working, and maintaining the organization all year long. The MC will be responsible for assigning Morale Staff duties/roles throughout the marathon and making sure they are utilized to their full potential. At the event, the Morale Coordinator will serve as the chief liaison between the Morale Staff and Executive Board and will be responsible for relaying expectations to the Morale Staff. The Morale Coordinator will work under the Programming Directors.

Service Coordinator

The Service Coordinator will facilitate service opportunities within the community while also establishing and maintaining relationships with organizations similarly focused on the welfare of people impacted by pediatric cancer and blood disorders such as Gilda’s Club, The Sickle Cell Association of Kentuckiana, Ronald McDonald House, and more. Additionally, this person will also coordinate the recruitment of Service Staff, hold meetings, and coordinate service tasks and projects within the organization. They will also manage raiseRED’s Service Support program and participation. Finally, the Service Coordinator will work with the Kentucky Blood Center to host and recruit donors for the blood drives throughout the year. The Service Coordinator will work under the External Director.

Sponsorship Coordinator (1)

The Sponsorship Coordinator maintains working relationships with all of raiseRED’s corporate and local sponsors and will act as the main business representatives for raiseRED. Duties include maintaining corporate and local sponsorship contacts, securing in-kind incentives for the marathon, creating sponsorship packets, and upholding contract agreements with all sponsors concerning their intended level of benefit. The top priority of this coordinator will be to retain current sponsors of raiseRED while soliciting and developing new corporate and small business donors in the Louisville community. This coordinator must ensure corporate sponsors receive all benefits promised by the donor benefit list. In addition to fundraising, the Sponsorship Coordinator will also help the Programming Directors with the soliciting of local businesses for food donations and in-kind donations for the dance marathon. The Sponsorship Coordinator will work under the Finance Director.

Student Involvement Coordinator

This coordinator is responsible for promoting student involvement in raiseRED and supporting recruitment and fundraising efforts throughout the year. This coordinator is responsible for working with all University of Louisville Registered Student Organizations (RSOs) and registered dancers. This person will oversee the participation of the RSOs and, along with staff, encourage further engagement. This includes assisting with information communication, recruitment, and fundraising. This person will also coordinate the management and onboarding of Team Captains & Student Involvement Staff Members and be responsible for the success of organizational involvement in raiseRED. This position will work closely with the Dancer Relations Coordinator, Morale Coordinator, Analytics Coordinator, and other Executive Board members to expand involvement and promote partnerships with all student organizations. The Student Involvement Coordinator will work under the Communications Director.

Technology Coordinator 

The Technology Coordinator is tasked with consistently and proactively updating and maintaining the raiseRED website and Engage page throughout the year. This person will also be responsible for understanding technology at the Student Activities Center (where our dance marathon is held) and being a point of contact for any technical difficulties that may arise. You do not have to have a background in coding or technology to apply for this position. The Technology Coordinator will work under the Communications Director.

 

You do not need to have participated in raiseRED to be considered for this role. 

University Outreach Coordinator 

This coordinator is responsible for the involvement of alumni, faculty, staff, and organizations at the University of Louisville with raiseRED, with a focus on UofL Athletics. This coordinator will strengthen our relationships with different departments of the university and work to create new ones throughout the year. Specific tasks throughout the year include, but are not limited to, organizing a faculty outreach event, coordinating with alumni and alumni-related events, meeting with prominent faculty members, organizing alumni mentors, and attending raiseRED Alumni Council meetings. This coordinator is also responsible for maintaining and advancing our relationship with UofL Athletics; this includes planning student nights, fundraising competitions, and involving athletes in raiseRED events. They will also work with the raiseRED Alumni Council to organize raiseRED’s end of year leadership banquet. The University Outreach Coordinator will work under the External Director.

Youth Philanthropy Coordinator

The Youth Philanthropy coordinator will be required to maintain relations and to assist current mini-marathons.They will also be tasked with contacting local schools to initiate conversations about partnering with raiseRED. This may include helping to set up/coordinate events such as mini-marathons, out-of-uniform days, dodgeball tournaments, and more. This coordinator will be responsible for updating a handbook outlining the current Youth Philanthropy program. This coordinator will execute events at the schools, along with organizing school contact information. This person will also be in charge of color wars planning, points, and execution at the marathon in collaboration with the Internal Projects Coordinator. The Youth Philanthropy Coordinator will work under the Programming Directors.
