How many years have you been with raiseRED?
1 year as Dancer, 2nd year on Executive Board
What are you studying at UofL?
Liberal Studies (Creative Writing, Film and Media, Studio Art, and Communication)
Why do you dance?
I dance to help support the families. Cancer not only effects the children diagnosed but also the parents and siblings who are trying to cope with harsh realities as well. After speaking to some of these families, I am so humbled to dance and raise money in order to make their lives easier during such a difficult time.
Advice for first time dancers?
Stay the whole time! I promise there is no better feeling in the entire world that is better than when
you turn around to see the total at the end of the line dance. A rush of pure elation comes over all of
the hundreds of people in the room at once and it is simply magical. Give up a few extra hours of sleeping in your bed to stay and dance; you’ll understand why so many students say that that is one of the happiest moments of their life.
Favorite raiseRED memory?
At the marathon last year, my best friend and I thought we would create a dance move every hour of the 18 hours. After the marathon ended, we went back to my dorm room and performed the dance one last time while hysterically crying because of how incredibly happy and exhausted we were. I hope that by our senior year, we will have created 72 really bad and embarrassing dance moves.
Fun fact about yourself?
I always think I’ll look good with bangs and I never do.
