How many years have you been with raiseRED?
2 years as a dancer and 1st year on Executive Board!
What are you studying at UofL?
Finance Major; Economics, International Business, and Spanish Minors
Why do you dance?
I dance to show my support. It’s amazing so see how our small individual efforts build into something so large, positively impacting many families. Being able to change someone’s life is a once in a lifetime opportunity and raiseRED allows me to do exactly this. Dancing lets me be a part of something bigger than me- bigger than us. And finally, I dance for hope; hope that one day childhood cancer doesn’t have to be in our vocabulary. Everything FTK!
Advice for first time dancers?
Plan on staying the entire time!! 18 hours of dancing may seem like an unachievable goal but with the activities, games, and speeches given throughout the night – the time flies!! The impact this marathon has on you is directly correlated to the effort you give so give it your all and prepare to be absolutely moved!
Favorite raiseRED memory?
My favorite raiseRED memory is easily seeing the kids we impact with our efforts smiling from ear to ear and dancing their pants off at all the pre-events and dance marathon! These kids are so incredibly strong and providing them with opportunities to just be a kid is amazing!
Fun fact about yourself?
When I was young, I memorized all 6 minutes and 6 seconds of Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen for a talent show. I cannot sing and needless to say, did not win 😦
